6 Easy STEPS - to obtain Free Password for Azhagi Basic version
    As such, the registration process is very simple:- Download and install Azhagi. Email the regn. no. generated at the end of installation to basic@azhagi.com. That is all to it. Thereafter, within 24 hours, you will be emailed back a password, using which you can register & operate the free version of Azhagi. Anyway, for the sake of clarity, the above-mentioned simple process has been explained in 6 steps below.

  • Step 1

    Note: Azhagi works in ALL Windows Operating Systems (9X/ME/NT/2K/XP/2K3/Vista), including VISTA.

  • Step 2
    After you finish downloading the abovementioned setup file (usually named 'Azhagi-Free-Setup.exe'), click on it to install 'Azhagi'. At the end of installation, a screen with a registration number will get displayed (see sample screenshot below). Please note that this registration number is generated uniquely for each computer in which Azhagi is installed. In other words, it will not be the same as the one you see in the sample snapshot(s) below. The regn. no. you see in the screenshot below is a sample no. only. You can click on the screenshot below to view it in enlarged form.

  • Step 3
    Select and copy this unique registration number which you see on your screen. (Note: You can do this automatically too, by clicking the 'Copy' button on the screen).

  • Step 4
    Open a new message for composing, in your preferred email client, say Outlook Express.

    Paste "your" registration number in the 'Subject:' line of your message. (Optionally, you may paste the registration number in the body of your message also).

  • Step 5
    Email your message with the registration number to 'basic@azhagi.com'. You can refer to the snapshot below for the kind of email expected from you. Please *DO NOT* send us the regn. no. you see in the snapshot below. i.e. *do not* email us the no. '646-434-131-004-173-574-160-420-AZ'. It is just a sample regn. no. only.



  • Step 6
    Wait for 24 hours max., to receive a document (usually named "azTamilComputing.rtf", and readable in any standard word-processor like MS-Word) from us via email, carrying an 8-characters long activation code (i.e. password) along with "detailed" instructions. Use this given password to register the free Basic version of Azhagi in your system and start typing freely without limitations of any kind. In this regard, please read the following:

    • We always send the abovementioned mail promptly by the end of every day (say anywhere between 7pm to 11 pm IST), to each one of those who had emailed their regn. no. uptil that particular time. This is done just once per day at any time during the aforesaid time interval. Exceptions to this might arise only on rare occasions.

    • We always send the 'correct' password only. If it's is not working at your end, more often than not it will be because of a mistake committed by you only, the most common mistake being that you are typing the password wrongly. Please note that our password is cAse-sEnSitiVe. Also, look out for the 'I's, 'i's, 'o's and 'O's in the password. Don't confuse them for the ONE's and ZEROs. We suggest you please click here for a detailed checklist of where all you can go wrong while typing out the password.

    • The subject of our mails will be usually carrying the words 'actvn. pwd' and nothing more.

    • Our mails will be usually sent from srvinc@gmail.com or az@airtelmail.in.

    • In case you do not receive our aforesaid mail even after 24 hours, please search for our mail in the 'bulk/spam' mails folder of your account (if you are using external email clients like Yahoo!, Gmail etc.) as sometimes even "genuine" mails are automatically sent to this folder by these clients. You can use our mail's subject ('actvn. pwd') and our email id (as mentioned above) to facilitate your search process.

    • In case you are using an email client which does not provide any 'bulk/spam' mail folder and you did not receive our password even after 24 hours, then we request you to kindly resend your registration no. via an email client which provides 'bulk/spam' mail folder (say, Gmail).

    • We request you to kindly send your email as far as possible from Gmail or Yahoo! as a few of the other email clients do not show up our activation mail even in the bulk/spam folder, sometimes.

    • After sending your email, we request you to kindly check again after a few minutes to ensure that your email client has delivered your mail to us correctly and not sent back any 'error message' or 'non-deliverance' message. In the latter case, correct the errors and send your mail again. If problem persists, kindly send your mail to srvinc@gmail.com with Cc to az@airtelmail.in.
Please read now, the following important additional info
  • You may avoid typing any extra words in the 'message area' of your mail like 'registration', 'activation' etc., when you send your mail to us. This is to avoid your email server sometimes falsely assuming your mail as spam.

  • Even before receiving the activation code, you can try out ALL the FULL 'Professional' version features of Azhagi. To do the same, start your Azhagi application. A password box will pop up. Do NOT enter anything in the password box. Just click 'OK' and you are free to test out ALL the features (of the professional version itself) but restrictions apply on the number of characters typed (only 100) and the duration (only 10 mts) of a session.   • The password we send will work only in the computer for which you sent us the registration number. If you want passwords for multiple computers, you have to send the registration number from each of those computers.

  • If any of your computers does not possess internet connectivity, just note down the registration no. generated in that computer and email the same via another computer having internet facility.

  • If our software was passed on to you through one of your friends (via CD-ROM, pen-drive etc.) and if none of your computers possess internet connectivity, note down the registration no.s generated in each of your computers and email each of them separately via another computer having internet facility (say one of your friend's computer or a computer in a nearby public internet center). If none of these avenues are possible, call us over phone at 91-44-42024669 or 0-98403-39750. If (and only if) time permits, we will pass on the password over phone.

  • You can always choose to straightaway buy any of our commercial versions. You can make payment either online or through other modes). The differences between the free and commercial versions of Azhagi are here. Once you make payment and become a registered commercial version user, Azhagi password will always be given immediately (between 10am and 10pm IST, over email or phone).

  • The free version allows typing in both Tscii & Unicode. Unicode input is possible through a separate and in-built Unicode Editor (Click on "Tools->Azhagi's Unicode Editor" to invoke it, after starting Azhagi). If you generate your Tamil texts using Unicode, your recipients (using Win XP / 2K / 2k3 / Vista) do not require any prior font installation at their end to read your Tamil docs, mails, chats etc. Apart from this, Unicode offers several other powerful features like 'Find & Replace in Tamil', 'File names in Tamil', 'Sorting in Tamil' etc. For more details, please see azhagi.com/uniset.html.

What one can do with the Free Basic Version?

  • The 'Dual Screen' transliteration (DST) interface will kick-start you into the world of Tamil Computing. With DST, what you type in English is always visible. So, you will easily master what to type in English to get your desired text in Tamil.
